Two days to report. Yesterday leftNauplia for Olympia passing through the mountain towns of Tripolli and Megapolis then along the Ionian coast to Olympia. Next what is becoming something of a standard formula, visiting theMuseum and then the archeological sites.. The museums continue some amazing sculptures and other art works of Ancient Greece, but so few! It is shocking to think that most of the best of Ancient Greek art probably resides in the museums of other countries or the homes of families who stole them years ago. Olympia is the home of the Games so we were given the history of the games while we explored its birthplace. Another hot day. A companion with a pedometer reckoned we walked 5 miles. The days are so full that there is little time t rest, so after dinner (usually around 8.00 pm we just crash.
The next morning another 6.30 am start. Today we continued the drive up the coast to Patras where in 2004 a magnificent bridge was suspended across the gulf of Corinth. After beautiful seafood lunch at Nafpaktos we co tied along the South coast, past lovely sea side towns which were very busy with all the holiday makers that we missed in the cities. Last stop today the ancient city of Delphi home to the Oracle, another museum and archeological site, but what a dramatic position! Many photos to show later. Now it is a dancing lesson, dinner and bed.
