Hey,
Last entry now, thought we'd update you the night before we left as we'll probably be short of time tomorrow.
The train journey here was long but went quite quickly and we arrived in Paris on monday morning. After leaving our luggage at the hostel, we decided the first thing we wanted to do was go up the Eiffel Tower. The queue was pretty long (about an hour) but the views from the top were definitely worth it- it was a lovely day by this point qnd we could see for miles.
By the time we had come down it was too late to do the Louvre as planned so we went qnd saw the Arc de Triomphe instead. Just as we got there it decided to rain heavily, we sheltered fairly well and luckily it was just a passing shower! We walked down the Champs Elysee to do some window shopping and also found a nice little cafe to have dinner in. Had the best meal of escargot (yummy snails) and camembert bagettes. Managed to check in at about 9, the hostel is nice, its quite struct but does a great breakfast and the views are amazing from our bedroom window (overlooking Paris).
On our last full day, we decided to head out of Paris and visit the Palace of Versailles. It was massive, too much to do in one day but was brilliant. Saw the main palace, including the hall of mirrors and then walked through the gardens to Marie Antionettes estate. This was really pretty and we loved the English gardens and hamlet she built herself for 'entertainment'.
Off to the Louvre tomorrow and to see Notre Dame, before catching the Eurostar home.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Lots of love
Rebecca and Zoe
