Zoe and Ed's Travels
We are coming to the end of our time in Laos; we fly out tomorrow.
Luang Prabang is another laid back town. It seems that half the population are monks. We have done a couple of trips out: one a trip up the Mekong to see some caves containing a collection of Buddha statues left by worshippers; the other a trip to a beatiful multi-tiered waterfall with pools to swim in. The water was very cold, but despite that it was a very nice place to spend some time. Ed also managed to find some people playing hacky, and so was able to work up a good sweat before his icy swim.
On our first day here we pottered around the town, and had a look at a few temples. Everthing's a bit lower key than in Thailand.
We have been having some good food, including things made from Mekong river weed: crackers and soup. Yellow mushrooms also seem to feature in a number of dishes. We have been eating plenty of noodle soup and have tried some local specialities. We also managed to squeeze in some cake.
Tomorrow we fly to Chiang Mai for the last leg of our Thai adventure. We have a week in and around Chiang Mai before heading back to Bangkok.
