Hello all, first off I suupose we should inform you that WE ARE ENGAGED! Chris proposed in the Copacabana hostel room, just across the border from Peru. I cried, he cried.. one of those mushy moments really and at the moment we are finding it difficult to find jewellers in La Paz... so there´s no ring at present.
Since last entry we have experienced many a hostel without running water, let alone the hot stuff, but our current accomodation does have hot water as long as you´re happy showering under a trickle. Chris´s record so far is 6 days without a shower... We left Puno last week to set across the border into Bolivia, where we went to Isla Del Sol (Island of the Sun) on Lake Titicaca. On the island our hostel was at the top of a steep hill and slowly trugging up on foot with all our bags, breathless and baking in the midday sun, we encountered many a donkey. Another night without running water... The following morning we got the boat back to the mainland, and stayed in Copacabana for the night: Chris proposed. And another night without running water. Onto La Paz, in an overloaded mini-bus which Chris said the driver was taking every racing line possible, cue Michael Schumacher... I think our bus took a bit of a detour, but we got here eventually.
Tomorrow we are going on the most ´dangerous bike ride´ where we bike over a 3000m change in altitude, and even though there has been a fatality on the ride in the past, good news is; we get a t-shirt at the end. All being well and we survive it, we´ll spend a couple of days in Coroico, maybe with Chris getting back on a horse to reminisce about the trek... and then probably down to Uyuni to see the Salt Flats...
Hope everyone´s well back in the UK, muchos love,
Chris and Zoe. x x x
