We only went to three places in Laos, and skipped out on the big city of Luang Prabang to save more time for Cambodia and Vietnam. Vang Vieng was my favourite place in Laos by far, and so we spent four nights there, and two in both Vientiane and 4000 islands. Our first day in Vang Vieng we went to a place called the Blue lagoon which is a twenty minute tuk tuk ride from where we stayed. It was a pretty cool spot that had a big tree hanging over the water that you could climb and jump from and had rope swings and tubes for rent, as well as a bar/restaurant and volleyball court. It was a good place to lounge in the sun for a day. We didn't do too much the next couple days, just hung out and read, but on our last day we went tubing down the famous river that is known for being a huge party. Unfortunately too many people were injuring themselves while going down the river drunk that the government had to burn down all the bars that lined the river side on your way down. In recent months three had been rebuilt but it still wasn't the party we had hoped for, which turned out to be alright since I was on antibiotics that I couldn't drink with anyways. If there was one place I could choose to live that we've visited it'd definitely be vang vieng, due to the fun atmosphere there, and the locals being extremely friendly for the most part.
