On leaving Kangaroo Valley we headed for the coast through Nowra and then down the coast road to Ulludulla and out to Kioloa. This is a small sea side town but there are many along the coast and they all seem to run into one another. We stayed here for four nights to relax after all the tripping around we had done. It was very quiet, in the caravan section there was me the kangaroos & rabbits and that was all. Rob & Marge in a cabin again. Drove back to Ulludulla for a morning quite a busy town. Another day we went down to Batemans Bay, this is very pretty. Met up with some friends for lunch.
When we moved on again we did the coast road through Batemans Bay stopping at Melvile Point for morning and then out onto the highway to Bega & then the coast to Tathra. It is so pretty here with the mountains and sea. Took a quick run up to Daniliqui but it was a wet and cold day so only did a short walk out to Minosa Rock. This is named after a ship wreck. The next day we went down to Merimbula this is where the rich Melbourneits come for holidays. Then on down to Eden, this place has got so much to see, but we didn't have time to do it all. Went to the Killer Whale museum which was very interesting. The story behind it is "Old Tom" and his Killer Whale pack used to let the whalers know when the baleen whale where coming in, even sometimes pulling the boats along. Once the whales had been harpooned they would leave them and the killer whales would feed off the lips and tongue for their reward, then the whalers would go out and bring the carcass back to shore. "Old Tom" was found dead in Two Fold bay two years after the whaling had stopped. They say he came home to die. Now his skeleton is in the museum. These whales really had a repore with the whalers and even swam beside them when the went over board until they were rescued.
On the way back to Tathra we called into the Pinnacles quite a spectacular sight (not as good as W.A.). This morning Rob & Marge left for Melbourne so now I'm on my own again. Here tomorrow before heading to Canberra.
