We stayed at malany villas right across the road from Sakura bar. The best bar in town! The villa was nice and big but a little out dated and could of been cleaner.
The thing to do in Vang Vieng is go tubing and party. So that's exactly what we did.
The tubing office has a sign up saying it takes roughly 1.5hours to float down. We started at around 12:30pm. We went with a group of guys from Switzerland, 2 girls from Canada, and 3 girls from Malaysia. We had all gone and got our tickets at the office around the same time and got transported to the river together. When we saw how fast it was running and the colour of it we thought ' yeah strength in numbers an all'
We got in our tubes and made sure we linked with each other. Got stuck at the side in a whirlpool within the first 2 minutes and ran into some water spiders. Along the way there were bars and guys would throw out ropes with bottles attached to the end so you could pull yourself in. We caught one and stopped for a drink at the side of the river and had our free shot. We noticed a basketball court at the side of the bar that had water spraying from it so we walked over to check it out. I was just about to reach for the basketball when I slipped and fell in a muddy hole of water flat on my bum whilst still managing to keep my drink completely in tact... No liquids lost there ;)
We got back in our tubes and floated on by not realising that we had stopped at the last bar and it was coming to an end. We had only been actually on the river 20 minutes and overall with our stop about an hour. So I don't know where he got 1.5 hours from. A Marshall just started shouting out at us through a mega phone to stop tubing now and to paddle over. The 2 Canadian girls nearly missed the rope and another had floated by completely. Not sure where she ended up! To finish we stayed at the end point for a while and ordered some more drinks and some food while chilling in the hammocks. It was a really good, fun, relaxing day.
That night we walked across the road to Sakura bar and got our free T-Shirts. Had a dance, played some beer pong, met some new people and the took an umbrella to walk across the road for food as it had started raining again. Very good night but it was time for bed because there was another early bus in the morning.
