Good weather all day. Sustrans trails are not a patch on the Dutch network. Made my way into York, found the post office and in the local park packed a box with all my camping gear and front panniers. Queued up to post it all back to Barnstaple. Masses of tourists around and walking on the ancient town walls. Good crossing-- shared a cabin with Katherine. We soon had our washing line strung across draped with wet clothes. We had a huge " all you can eat" meal in Four Seasons Restaurant. Having had no lunch we did justice to the offered spread! Breakfast was a similar glutton feat -- there was enough for lunch too. We then said our farewells and went our separate ways. Rain and thunderstorms during the night-- more wet tents! We set off, leaving Sally and Tony who were going back from another port, and Graham riding back to Calais. The rain stopped while we lingered over coffee in the cafe at Rozenburg but the head wind on the way to the ferry terminal was horrendous. Some people crashed out while waiting for check- in time.

Rain in night-- nice wet tents to pack up. Lovely big breakfast at the camp cafe-- cheese ham boiled eggs rolls and jam, also fruit and any amount of coffee. 85km today along the bike track through the dunes and heathland of the coastal fringe. Stopped for a paddle at lunchtime but beach a bit grungy with some black sediment. Reached the campsite in a protected area -- no cars allowed-- at 4 o' clock. Tiring day.
