So arrived in Hoi An at 6:30am after what turned out to be an OK bus ride. The buses in Vietnam are super modern and you can pretty much fully lie down in them although they appear to be designed for Asian people given the limited room you are given, however given I am of Asian size and I feel like I have come home with all my fellow hobbits around me it was not a problem for me, Daz may have other ideas mind you!!! Booked straight onto a tour to My Son to see the ruined Cham temples here. Pretty impressive and the guide was clearly not a big fan of the Americans who bombed the site during the war given his passing comments at every opportunity, luckily no Americans were on our tour so nobody was offended by this. After a few hours of touring around these ruined temples we headed back into Hoi An and went and found a local tailor shop. Found a nice friendly place and got measured up for a suit which comprised, jacket, trousers and shirt all for a little over $100. Bargain but given number of tailors here I suppose competition is rife and therefore prices kept low. I also got myself a dressing gown made. Now if anybody watches Only Fools and Horses and has seen the episode where Del Boy is wearing a purple silk dressing gown with leopard skin collar, cuffs and pocket trim then you will know what I got made, two words describe it 'THE BUSINESS' I am not sure these tailors have been asked to make anything quite like this before given their puzzled faces and general laughter, however when they saw the finished article draped over me they knew it made sense!!! haha. Proper pimp daddy dressing gown get in.
Next day was spent la\zing around the town and had to go for a couple fittings of my suit. When finally picked it up (I say finally it was less then 24 hours since I had gone in for my original measurement takings) at 4pm I tried it on and can see why Hoi An is soo popular for people visiting tailors. The finished article looked awesome and had it not been so hot in Vietnam I would of kept that suit on for the rest of the day. However given how hot it was and what a snug fit it was (proper fit) it had to be removed from my back with a fish slice, shorts and t-shirt it is then!!
Had to wait around until about 6pm for bus to Quang Ngai which was next stop on way back down to Saigon. Would of liked to head up further North but given short time frame Daz has left he needed to get back down to Saigon for flight out and I was happy to head back down here as I enjoyed the city last time there.
