Thailand
Well we arrived late in Bangkok after another now typical Kirsty and ian refusal to opt for the organised tourist transport, the local buses are a bit cheaper and slot more colourful but they do take a bit longer as a rule.
Our first full day was Sunday, Sunday was a shopping day as in Bangkok there is a Market on the weekend with an estimated 10,000 stalls. In short, it sells pretty much everything you can imagine: from food (live and dead) to designer jeans to guns no problem. In all honesty it was actually quite good and relaxed and not the people jam I was expecting. Though there was a low point when as we were leaving kirst decoded that she wanted a pair of shoes she had seen! My advice to anyone is that if you are in a Market of 10,000 stalls and you see something you like, buy it straight away as relocating the shop again ain't gonna happen. That evening we had a very posh meal at the mandarin oriental over looking the river, thanks to dads temporary moment of weekness. Thai intention of only eating Thai food went straight out the window in the face of nz lamb chops and mashed potato. Weak we are, weak! The following evening out around Bangkok, we forgot our camera but there were some very beautiful ..... erm, people on the streets that evening.
Next stop has been the islands of ko samui and ko Tao. Both good, both different. Samui was more focusswd towards a night on the town and Ko Tao to sitting on beaches and snorkeling. True to form though we walked across the island to reach the first one and canoed to another island for the second one. That was probably a mistake in retrospect but at the time, walking past all the locals offering , boat taxi mr? Our thoughts were pretty much "no thankyou, not us , we are intrepid don't you know". Well the wind and swell were up a bit and the Kayak was propelled very eractically to our destination mainly by a combination of swearing and brute force. I never known a trip like it and the journey home weren't much fun neither!

Mark Time for an update methinks, unless you've been eaten, bitten, stung by some nasty Aussie creature, of which there are plenty and that's just the people. Hope you're having a good time though. We're all off to Bali for a week.
