After another hot sticky night in Port Douglas we hit the road early and arrived at the croc adventure park for a days entertainment. The park has beautiful palm lined waterways through a thick rain forest and on the 1/2hr boat trip you get very close to about 20 croc's with some being over 4.5 metres long. Hi It was a nice feeling again arriving back in Port Douglas and a trip here would not be complete without a snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef so a booking was made for the next day. Pick up was at 7.40am and we were sailing for the 90 minute trip to the outer reef by 8am on a windy but warm morning. The drive inland up to Cooktown although only 280 k/m's seemed to take forever through quite dry country on a very winding road over mountain ranges and then back into rain forest on the coast. The town itself is quite small and sits at the mouth of the Endeavour River which looks amazing with all the palms and green lush forest. Leaving Normanton we started heading towards the East Coast. We encountered a new type of road on this journey, a single lane of tarseal with gravel on either side. When you met someone coming towards you you both pull off to the side which creates a lot of dust and gravel being thrown at each other's vehicles.
