Because it makes perfect sense to have a statue to a 16th-century Spanish novelist in the middle of a Chinese university founded in 1898. Weirdly, a day or two later I came across a heavily sinicised tv serial of Don Quixote, except he was a magical kung fu master so some bits obviously got found in translation. I'll have to find out why he's apparently so popular here.
