Go West! (Technically since leaving home it's been more South-East, West then North West!)
So after much deliberation on what clothes to take and a "smashing" time at my leaving dos I was finally ready to leave! The suitcase weighed in at an impressive 16.7kg and my day sack was fairly empty until I hit duty free (to buy presents for various family members who are graciously letting me stay!) The only slight problem is that it is now full with the heavy duty shoes but it still zips up so we'll see how we go!
The flight over was uneventful, long, boring and slightly delayed due to the runways at Heathrow being closed for a short period due to the Farnborough Air Show. Mild excitements included Book number 1 being finished in 3 hours (No it wasn't a picture book before anyone asks - I'm just a fast reader!) and crying at Nanny McPhee & The Big Bang.
Once we landed at Boston Airport we picked up the hire car and drove 30-45 minutes out of town, before stopping at a cheap motel for the night. On the way we drove past the home of the Red Sox and a game was in progress however we could see anything unfortunately.
The next morning it was up early thanks to jet lag and the long drive continued. The US part was pretty straight forward Massachusetts Turnpike, New York State Thruway before hitting the Canadian Border and a slightly more complex drive! Thanks to brilliant navigation by myself, we made it without getting lost! I also managed to correctly predict our ETA in Elora to within 0.83% not bad hey - once a forecaster always a forecaster!!!
We spent the evening catching up with our cousins Lillian & David who provided a great meal with some delicious wine, before the jet lag caught up and an early night ensued!!!
