Where's Suzie?
Here's the latest then. Got to Singapore on Monday night and quickly made my way through customs etc. and met Saskia (Aaron's sister) who's out here working for a few months and kindly offered to put me up for a bit. The apartment she's living in is lovely and has pool, gym, maid service and loads of bars and restaurants downstairs. Spent my first day taking the courtesy bus to one of the many big shopping centres on the main Orchard Road. Had some lunch then took a cab to the Asia Civilisations Museum where I learnt all about the Chinese influence on Singapore. Spent the rest of the day by the pool until Saskia got home when we went out to Clarke Quay for some dinner. Pretty much the same pattern each day either spent walking around the huge shopping malls or taking a tour around the colonial district where the Merlion is (statue of part fish part lion - a very famous symbol of Singapore), the many war memorials and old and new parliament buildings by the Padong where there's a cricket ground. Went out later in the evening with one of Saskia's work colleagues from UK who we met up with again last night (Friday) for drinks and dinner before his journey home. Other nights we spent either eating out or eating in and watching a dvd or two. Today we've been out to the shops and got the underground train back to Clarke Quay (tubes are so clean and pretty) but it's rained a bit so not sure we'll be down at the pool just yet. We're planning on going to Sentosa Island tomorrow and will hopefully be spending time on the beach and riding the cable car before I have to get my flight to Koh Samui in the evening. Bye for now, Suze xxxx
