Since my last entry I have had a fairly chilled out time in Hanoi - after we got back from Halong Bay Leo decided to go to Sapa for a few days but unfortunately I had my budgeting head on and couldn't bring mysleft to pay out another $110 for a 2 day trip.. Although Leo did say he had a great time and saw a beautiful part of the country I was glad I stayed and of some time to do what I wanted- which mainly consisted of shopping while I was boy free!! I spent most of the couple of days with an Aussie girl called Lina I met in my dorm. I also met up with Joe and Alex, the Irish guys we met on the slow boat in Láo and Simon who was a tennis coach on one of my seasons in Greece (this was totally unexpected but a nice supprise to bump into him in the reception of the hostel!). I also spent a fair bit of time researching our plan for the rest of Vietnam- for 4 of us as Joe and Alex are joining us for the rest of our Vietnam trip.
When Leo returned we tried to book our bus ticket to finally leave Hanoi (for 6 stops down the coast of the country finishing at Sigon) but they were full for a couple of days (not helped by a lot of the tríps being cancelled because of storm warnings).. to fill the time we dicided to do nothing remotely cultural and headed to the waterpark just outside the city and took a couple of trips to the cinema to see Day and Night and The Last Air Bender (apparently calling sơmeone a bender doesnt imply the same thing anywhere else in the world except the UK but some of the lines in that film were unintentionally hillarious- everyone else in the cinema had no idea what we found funny and probably thought we were loosing it with the heat or something). We went out on our final night but for some reason nothing is meant to stay open late here so we had to have an early one and went to bed rather drunk at about 1am..
We then left from Hanoi on the overnight sleeper bus to Hue where I ended up next to a guy whos stomach đidnt agree with travelling- not ideal!
We plan to move on from Hue tomorrow and see some beaches and smaller towns and villages.
