Forest Fire
We could see this as we drove up to our drop off spot. At first, it was a thin thread of smoke. This picture was taken about 2 1/2 hours later and we could even smell it as it had spread so much. Flames were visible, too. The rains came later that night, probably extinguishing it. But, two days later, there were pictures of the runoff in the Pecos Valley. There had been a devastating fire there last year and with no trees to stop the flow, the river filled with mud, rock and debris, along with obstructing a nearby road. This fire was set by lightning, thankfully not by a human.
