We're in the deep South, visiting my cousin, Krige and his wife, Caron and their two sons in Cedartown, Georgia. We've had a lovely time so far, just enjoying the new surroundings, and being spoilt very much! Still a bit jetlagged, but getting over it slowly.
Krige met us at the airport, as he had just returned from a race in Chicago where he ended second. When we arrived home in Cedartown, Caron had made some tea and we had a quick tour of their lovely spacious house. You can see they have put a lot of work into renovating it.
The next morning Jonathan and I wnet for a run and when we returned, Daniel and Simonhad arrived back from school. There was great excitement. We enjoyed a lovely lasagna for lunch, which Caron had prepare. That afternoon, the six of us took a little tour of the village and also went to see the signpost which says - "Cedartown - hometown of Krige Schabort." It's really cool. Krige is a true celeb. That evening, Krige and Caron prepared some beautiful steak for us on the braai - delicious!
We went to Waffle House this morning for breakfast and it was such an experience. The waitresses were wearing the typical white aprons and caps, and their southern drawl made it feel just like we have just walked into a movie. We've also been enjoying relaxing in Krige & Caron's jaccuzzi and jumping on their trampoline with the boys.
Just come back from a beautiful cycle with Krige. He showed us his training route. The roads here are so wide and the cars so big. Going water skiing this afternoon.
Well we didn't quite get to ski, because just as we pulled off, the wheel of the boat hit the pavement and the tire burst! That didn't stop us from going though, as a brilliant team effort secured the spare wheel in place and off we went. It was a beautiful drive and wehn we finally arrived at the dam, we were ready to hit the water. Except there appeared to be a problem with the boat's engin, as a cable snapped, which meant it would have been too risky to go far out, as we have been stranded. Nevertheless, Johnny still got to go on the tire, which looked like fun. Even though we did'nt get to ski, we still had lots of fun. Everything can't go smootly all the time! We ended off the day with Chinese at one of the local restaurants and then headed to bed after a funfilled day.
