Tuesday 2 pm and we are off by minivan to The Jungle Club. Access is gained via a safari type 4 wheel drive that is summoned to the bottom of the mountain for us. The ride up is hairy to say the least. The road was sooo steep and the driver engaging 4 wheel drive on a vertical incline, had us rolling down the hill backwards. We may have screamed at this point. Recent rain on Koh Samui had turned to flash flooding and on our adventure up the mountain, we found evidence to proove the stories correct. The road had been undermined at more than one point and washed away dirt bridges to reveal underground pipes supporting the road we travelled on. Luckily the 4 wheel drive was just the correct width for the road and up and up and up we went.
The view over the east side of the island was amazing, and we took advantage of the huts purchased on the side of the hill, and drank cocktails and ate fried rice. Sue Bernie and Ca swam in the cliff edge infinity pool, because it seemed wrong not to. We all agreed that the journey down the hill should be made before dark so we regrouped into the safari van and screamed our way down the mountain.
Chewang was our destination for the evening. A larger town than Lamai, Chewang had all the cheap shopping opportunities we needed. Agreeing to meet at Eat Sense at 7.30 pm we powershopped! Our restaurant was booked out so we took to the beach to walk and choose another beachside dining venue. The beach club had live music and a large table to accommodate us all. We drank cocktails, many cocktails, sang along with the singer and some even danced. Leanne debuted as a go go dancer ON the table .... And those diners who were deaf and hadn't heard us up till now, were treated to a very nice show by Leanne, who apparently, doesn't drink much!!! ( so she said).
We negotiated a station wagon sized Tuk Tuk for the trip home, and some exhibitionist behavior from the legs of one 5 foot 10" blonde in the back, caused an unmarked police car to light up, put on it's siren and scare the crap out of us. Flashes of residency in the Bangkok Hilton sobered us up quickly and ended the silliness of the evening.
Safely back at the ranch a bedtime DVD accompanied by the odd nightcap ended the evening pleasantly.
