It all Starts here. Let the fun begin 2017
Central Bedfordshire, UK
Well here we are then. Like our last trip it has been a year and a half in the waiting. Similarly like so many things in life, they seem to be so far in the future often you cannot fully contemplate them. Then, as if someone speeds up the clock, you are there. Well that's how I feel right now. The past year has been kept busy with Laura and Nico planning their new lives in Hong Kong. Then it was no time until Charlotte's and Kris' wedding. Shortly followed by Anthony and Alexa's engagement. All key events not only in the year, but in our lives! That carried us through until December and Christmas. The New Year was upon us and then it all seemed so much more real. Now as I sit here typing the first entry in what I hope to be a daily entry for our 2017 trip, it suddenly feels real.
It all starts with a luxury weekend at Luton Hoo. Where Wendy and I celebrated late birthday presents to each other. At the times of our birthdays we were busy looking out for Wendy's mum who had injured her leg before Christmas and later me being busy at work for Wendy's birthday.
A fabulous weekend was expected at 'the Hoo' and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed the splendor without the associated trepidation of the wedding. Very encouragingly the staff remembered the wedding and asked after Kris and Charlotte. After the restraint a long cruise demands of your diet in the months leading up to the trip, this weekend has been an exercise in re educating your palate, something which was accomplished with much success. The morning after our stay was met with a hearty breakfast and a full day in the spa lapping up the sauna and pools, and Wendy getting a pedicure. All part of the essential pampering. Many thanks to both our parents for it was what we chose to do with their birthday monies. We are both so grateful to start our adventure this year in such style.
So just a final short week at work and we are off. I will endeavor to record something every day of this trip, only time will see how well I done and what tales I have to tell.
