Well the weather gods have been extremely good to us. We have two perfect days here so far, lovely sun and no wind to speak of. Some what like an early spring day at home. Landed at heathrow yesterday 5am. Picked up our car and drove to Salisbury where toured the cathedral after we eventually worked out how to get into the close, amazing! Took a short walk along the Avon river to have lunch at the Old Mill in Harnham. By the way not the Avon of Stratford on Avon. I discovered today that there are 7 Avon rivers in the UK .
Apparently Avon means river in Gaelic.
Next we went to Stonehenge then to Pickwick. We had a pleasant dinner at the Hare and Hounds in Pickwick and I commenced my attempt to taste every beer in England. Needless to say we didn't need any rocking to go to sleep last night. Today we went to Bath and did the city bus tour then did Jane Austen's house. Enjoyed Lunch at pub then went to the Roman Baths museum, which was fascinating. Finished off the day with a visit to Lacock a little village very close to here
That is a very popular setting for films, some of Harry Potter was filmed there, and we also dined there. The pub only dated back to 1730 the rest of the street dates 13th century. coincidentally
There was a gum tree growing in the back yard.
