Just to pre-warn you all this is gonna be a long one so ill cut it into 2 parts for better reading... and i would like to start off with a joke which really made me laugh yesterday and has no relevance but does sort of show the kind of nutters and wicked people i've met...
"What did Batman say to Robin before they got in the Batmobile? Get in the Batmobile Robin!" Hahaha!!
Sooooo.... had one night left in Rockhampton and me and jonny found a place which actually did sell the best stake i have ever ate, came out on a 400 degree stone and you basically cooked it yourself, had some bits that were blue and jeeeesus it was lovely. Helped by the face we got it for free and spent the whole few hours drinking beer with the owner! Then we went to Great Keppel Island which was beautiful, apart from the big (worse than butlins) resort full of chavvy aussies! We managed to find our own secluded beach though so we spent all day there!! This was our last day with Vicki and Jonny so of course we went out and got drunk that night, not before i done my first bit of cooking since the start of my trip.. pasta and a sauce! Ill tell you, you never seen anything so good. I wasnt going to tell people about this but i guess you would fuind it amusing even though i did scream like a girl, put it this way we were leaving the kitchen and as i pulled up this shutter a mahoooosive possum fell directly on me, i basically screamed but did try to act all manly whilst the others were in histerics!!
Next day after saying our farewells, me and katie headed up the coast to Airlie where we were doing our whitsundays sailing and diving on the Great Barrier reef. This was one of the best things ive done so far! Only issue was that it rained the whole 2days we were out on the boat, but this was ok because there was 25 of us on the boat, 20 girls and 5 guys, as you can imagine i was in my element and really enjoyed it. I got to do 3 dives in the end getting down to 12 meters, saw every kind of fish including a seriously large one and loads of nemo's plus some fantastc coral with all the colours of the rainbow. I took to the diving pretty well and was never really nervous, kate was a little but we were both fine. The crew were pretty cool to and we had drinks in the evenings and some really good food. Whilst not diving we did some snorkalling or i played alot of poker beating the girls on the boat! I even managed to look good in my wetsuit but ill let you be the judges of that you will have to look at my facebook pics! lol. I didn't even get sea sick which i thought i would and i even became a sailor for a bit helping with putting the sails up!! Even the 30 sec shower each day didnt' bother me, unlike some of the girls. lol. When we got back to dry land the crew had organised a party at the local bar so that night we headed down their to get a bit tipsy and have a dance. We met some cool people and i would definately do it again! Next on my list is to do my PADI so i can become a certified diver! Maybe in Thailand, if im good with my money!
Next stop was Magnetic Island... Hostel wasn't great a big wooden hut with a variety of creatures in it, haha, but i've become accustomed to this now so wasn't too worried. We decided to hire a car because a few friends were staying on the otherside of the island. Got a cool little citreon convertable, katie called shotgun so got to drive first. It only took 10 mins to get from one side of the island to the other so as you can imagine its pretty small and not alot to do. We picked up the others and thought we would go for a roam, so there we are, me driving and what happens after literally 5 minutes!! The police pull me over!! Couldn't believe it, i got breathalised and everything, i even said to the cop Ooohhh ive never had to take a breathalise test!! hahaha!! It was only a routine check but was rather amusing as Nicole and Shaf, 2 girls that we met sailing, couldn't stop laughing in the back!! Basically spent the next few days sweating it out sunbathing and hanging out really. Got a bit bored towards the end as some of the guys managed to get off the island early whereas me and Kate were on there for 4 days. Started to look forward to Cairns where we were staying in the "place to be" Guilligans, plus we knew it was a bit of a party town!!
So got off the island and back on the Aus Bus for our last leg of the journey up the east coast. What could happen now?? You'll have to read the next chapter to find out. THE END.
