COSTA RICA 13/04/2008 UNTIL 26/04/2008
After several unconfortable bus rides, it was easy going through the Nicaraguan and Costa Rican border. Costa Rica is a modern country, transports are more confortable but less frequent.
Near Liberia, we hitch hiked to get to some nice beaches. We also visited the beautiful Rincon De La Vieja National Park. During a day hike in the park, we discovered the forest, boiling mud holes dry landsape and waterfalls.
Then, we went to Santa Elena and suddenly arrived in a fresh and rainy environment. Here, we took a long walk on a muddy path in the heart of a tropical forest, very thik and particularly humid. Later, we headed to Alajuela where we spent some times visiting the Poas Volcano, unfortunatly covered by fog.
From Alajuela, we successively took a bus, a taxi, another bus, a third bus and a boat before we arrived in Tortuguero ! This touristic village is located in a beautiful area with on one side the Caribean sea and the river and the forest on the other. We took a canoe and met some local animals : Crocodiles, frogs, monkeys, birds...
A motor boat drove us at high speed on the river and after 3 hours, we arrived on a small port, took a taxi, a bus and found a nice hotel in Cahuita. This little Caribean town also touristic is near a National Park that run along a white sand beach and the forest. We walked the 9 kilometers between land and sea, followed by monkey's shouts and blue butterflies...
Then, we crossed the border, and arrived in Panama...
