We took a very short water taxi trip over to Nanuya Lailai and stayed at a resort called Sunrise. Nanuya Lailai is the Island that the movie the Blue Lagoon was filmed at and is basically known for its crystal clear blue water that has a great coral reef right off the beach! Sunrise was definitely the worst resort we stayed at, mainly because our Bula (hut we slept in) smelled like urine and had no breeze to cool down the room, which is essential considering how hot it can get on these islands. Upon arrival we decided to take the 45 minute trail over to the Blue Lagoon and go hang out on the nice beaches the lagoon had to offer! We started off around 1pm, which I think is probably the hottest time of the day, and sweated the whole way to the beach. Kristi was not a happy hiker, she threw a couple of temper tantrum's and actually slipped and fell at one point, ha ha!! We finally made it to the Blue Lagoon and went directly to the water and cooled off. We snorkeled a bit and laid out on the beach. We spent all afteroon there and around 6pm grabbed a beer at the resort on that side of the Island and then began our walk back to Sunrise. We were both exahusted and decieded to eat dinner and go crash out, easier said than done though.... Aside from the smell in our Bure, we had a fairly large lizard that lived in our room and the heat was absolutly suffocating. Around 11pm we both decided to crawl out of our bed and head outside to one of the hammocks. We both slept outside that night on the hammock which was 100% better than out room. I've never slept in a hammock before but it wasn't all that bad! We woke at sunbreak and were ready to go to the next Island, Naviti!
