GLORIA:The new tire was easily put on so we were ready to travel again.Este was our destination for lunch where the owner/chef of a restaurant enthusiastically greeted us and offered his specialty, linguine with clam sauce.A variety of tasty meals were enjoyed and then we checked out the local shops with not one purchase made!Floyd waited at the restaurant and was treated by the owner/chef to a taste of grappa and then was presented with 3 black tee shirts with the logo of the restaurant, which had just opened last year.
Towering above the town is a 14th century castle, all of which is encompassed within a brick wall. The ancient Ateste people flourished here from about the 9th century B.C. until they were eventually conquered by the Romans in the 3rd century B.C.From the road we noticed small buildings, somewhat resembling tombs, climbing the hillside but despite Robin's driving us through a winding road we could not get close enough to discover what they were.
Returning to Villa Saraceno, Catrina and Stephen planned a treasure hunt, dividing the group into four teams, minus Floyd who was a "clue".Some poor sportsmanship showed up after the team of Jed, Keith, and Gloria were declared winners. But calm returned with a dinner of a whole trout, delicious vegetables and many bottles of wine.
