We left Kangaroo Island today heading towards Robe via Victor Harbour and the wine-growing region of Langhorne Creek. The drive was mainly through cattle and sheep country interspersed with vineyards. We stopped at about 3 cellar doors along the wine route. Roadkill count: a record-breaking 79!!!! Fortunately, we saw more live animals than dead today. First stop: Koala Walk - an animal sanctuary where the animals are not kept in cages and have freedom to roam. The $5 entry fee was well worth it as we spotted several Galah birds, were followed by a very weird looking bird (like a cross between a goose and a hawk) and came into close proximity with 6 koalas!
