Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef and Cape Tribulation 29th February - 6th March
I arrived in Cairns at 6am and headed to the only place open the golden gates (MaccyD's) until 7am when my hostel reception opened. I arrived at the hostel and was allowed to check in straight away which is great for a change. I dumped my bags and headed back to reception, to ask about liveaboards on the Great Barrier Reef. I ended up booking a 2 night/3 day liveaboard with Prodive, for the next day. The hostel seemed really nice so I booked it for when I returned. That day I caught up with some sleep from the bus journey and headed into the main town to have a look around. That evening I had a few drinks at the main local bar Woolshed and then headed back to get some sleep before my 6:15 pick up. I couldn't really sleep as I was very excited to be going diving. The three days spent in the liveaboard were a bit of a blurh of diving, eating and sleeping - you cant complain too much!! I wont go into the fine details of the dives as I will bore you - but I already want to return to the Great Barrier Reef. I returned back to land (unhappy that I was leaving the GBR) to have a quick shower and headed out to meet Zoe and Sarah for some drinks and a bit of fun. The next day was spent just chilling. On my final day in Cairns I headed up to Cape Tribulation on a day trip - it was amazing we took lots of small walks through the jungle - it was amazing. On the way back we stopped off at Port Douglas for a beer and walk along the beach - it was a great ending to my time in Cairns and Oz and was ready to hit the airport the following day.
