Today we visited the Royal Palace of Caserta which was constructed for the Bourbon Kings of Naples. It was the largest palace and one of the largest buildings erected in Europe during the 18th century. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The palace has 1,200 rooms and the amazing gardens stretch for 120 ha, partly on hilly terrain. The park starts from the back façade of the palace, flanking a long alley with artificial fountains and cascades.
It was really worth the trip, we had a beautiful sunny day and really enjoyed the walk through the waterfalls and pools with the kids.
