Woke this morning to find my face looked like it had been in contact with Mike Tysons' fist. I got stung on my eye yesterday on the beach by some unknown insect whose venom obviously does not cause a reaction for 12 hours! Thankfully the swelling seems to be going down as the day goes on. It would seem that Stelio has finally had enough of taking us back and fore to the beach so he informed us (Nick really as he seems reluctant to talk to me) this morning that we were to take the Landrover out to explore the island (gratis!) until 1 pm. As it was just us two I got to sit in the front (yipee!) we did a bit of sightseeing and shopping and then headed back. This afternoon Stelio had arranged for us to climb the mountain (oh joy!) We have been looking at this mountain since we've been here and have purposely avoided any reference to it as we seem unable to pass any chance of mountain climbing by! The mountain is only 700 metres but I was still apprehensive after the Peru drama and they have no mulas here to help out! As it happened the climb was really easy although it did involve some proper climbing with ropes and harnesses which was really scary! The view of Bora Bora, the Motus and the sunset were breathtaking and well worth the effort! I am now putting the Peru climbing failure down to my problems with the altitude!
