Hello my Lovers!
Well what a few days! This has been my 1st chance to get on the internet.....
All the days seem to be blurring a bit, but on tuesday night I think it was we went out in Ybor city.....everywhere was pretty dead due to the hurricane so we went to coyote ugly. The place was dead too, but fortunately they had good looking bar maids, $2 beers and a jupebox! I got pretty drunk off about 10 bottles, and we all had a good time. The next day we went to Busch gardens, which was ace really. I conquered a lot of fears and nailed all the roller coasters! Some were terrifying, lots of upside downs and big drops *cue lots and lots of swearing*. It was also an animal park so we got to see rhinos, giraffes, elephants and loads of other animals, which was great. They had white rhinos there too which were beautiful, and a huge alligator! I bottled the biggest ride for the day but then a couple of minutes before it closed I ran on. It was terrifying. Basically they take you up 200ft, dangle you over the edge then vertical drop you into a loop, loads more stuff then another drop, all at 70mph!!!!!!!! I had to shut my eyes on the way up but it was worth it, I was quite proud of myself. We left at 6 and turfed up in fort myers for the night, which was ok, ableit quiet.
Yesterday, we read about 2 lil island off fort myers that are 'like hawai', so we decided to drive over to those. It was during a tropical rainstorm which wasnt great, but fortunately it cleared. We hired bikes out and rode round the island, which also had an animal reserve. We must have biked about 7 miles in all down dirt track, looking at the animals birds etc. We went through an alligator but but didnt see any! There was a lighthouse at the end of the island so we rode there and had a walk on the beach. We saw a dolphin in the sea a few metres off which was nice, but a bit sad on reflection as he must of got lost from his pack. We dropped the bikes off after that and headed off the island. it was strange to go from a few days of touristy bits and brits to a real secluded place, but we loved it. We went to Naples after that, but it was quite late so we just had a walk through town, on the beach, and a bite to eat (salad!). This morning was everglades day....which was an experience! We got down there for 11:30 ish, and went for an off road drive round a reserve which took about an hour and was a bit hairy! Sam was colin mcraeing it though the pot holes, getting out moneys worth from the extautionate rental fee by knackering the suspension i think! We saw 3 alligators, a really fat one just on the road, which I screamed when I saw. Not sure why, but I can only assume that alligators can turn door handles. We also saw a baby one swimming. After that we went down shark valley to get a tram tour. Unfortunately this was $15 a pop which felt a bit of a rip off, so we decided to walk to the observation tower, which was 5 miles away. Unfortunately this was pretty ill conceived, as it turns out it was further away as we had taken the windy road. We walked for a couple of hours, and the tram tour drove past and were staring and laughing at us after asking if we were ok. When they were driving off the conducter said to the passengers "If I was an alligator I would look for those guys", which would have been funny if it wasnt me walking! We were right by the swamps, and saw an alligator on the way. After 2 hours ish we gave up as we had to get back by 6. We got back in time, and easily covered 6/7 miles. I was knackered, and I am still sweating from it, fatty! Although saying that I think I have lost weight, my jeans are fitting better and I am enjoying all this walking (No laughing turner!) We read about a hostel in florida city which was not too far, and we though it would make a nice change after days of faceless motels. We got here an hour ago and it is like a hippy commune, which is great. Anyway we are off to dinner now, I am starving, so more soon, but may not be awhile.
