Hey there guys,
Sounds like you had a good weekend, and a very energetic choice of activities I see! I am also having problems uploading photos - the computers in Malaysia hate me, grrrrr.
We set off into KL at the weekend and went to Chinatown which was ace - really busy with lots of market stalls and street vendors trying to sell you DVDs (Shouting "Hey beauty" at you in the street :) ). I found many many things to buy for myself and everyone else so we're going to head back at the end to blow our remaining pennies!
Hope you are all well and having fun, looking forward to seeing what excitement you get up to this weekend,
Muchos love, Amy x x x

Will hopefully have a new job by end of month, working in the communications department as an assitant creative designer for beds county council, not the best job but a start, so fingers crossed.
Can't believe your missing my bday this year! what will i do now? where will i go? (Well actually im off to centre parks for a week but thats not the point), will have to hold off celebrations til you get back.
Guess thats about it for now, glad everythings going well your end, keep me updated, speaks to you soon, bye for now

Granddad
Hi Hey everyone!
Hope your all ok.
Been in colombo for a couple of days now. Its pretty hot and very sticky! The family we are staying with are really nice. The son lives in Australia most of the time but is around at the moment so has been showing us around. Spent this morning at the beach. Was nice but colombo doesn;t have the prettiest of beaches! Experienced the buses today as well, not recommended!
The food is really good and pretty cheap. Not handling the spice very well though, their idea of the non spicy curry still blows my head!
Been to a few bars around colombo. Watched the tri nations yesterday (Wallabies vs sprinboks) with a nice cold glass of the local Lion beer. Was a pretty good match. We followed that with a couple of cocktails while watching the sunset, perfect! Tried the local spirit Arrack. Its a bit like whisky but coconut, sounds bizarre i know! Its ok, nice mixed with some lemonade!
We start at the hospital tomorrow. Aparently we can pretty much do what we want which sounds good! Hoping to get to some other places soon. May take a few weeks to travel the coast and hill country.
Will write again soon. Let me know what youve been up to on the message board or email me!!
lots of love xxxicky

Hey to all you ladies in Shrilanka.
I am glad to here you have got settled in ok. Nice to get a message from you.
I think me and Amy are starting to get settled in here. Just the occasional painic about what we are doing half way acrass the other side of the world. We have done a little bit of exploring so far but have mainly been sorting out placement admin. We did get a chance to go to the area around the pertonas towes yesterday. It could have been Leeds or any other city. The rest of the city doesn't appear to be like that though.
My placent so far seems ok, my doctor appears to always be busy, Amy's seems to be a bit friendiler so maybe he will be able to sign me off early.
In terms of the hospital we are doing a bit better than you, the wards have walls, but there are lots of students, i think about 20 on rounds this morning. Also we got a nice free lunch, plus pens, today.
I will hopefully meet my new house mates tonight. So i will write again with how that went.

Hey hey Vickster,
Our hospital is not as different as yours - in fact we went to a glaxo-smith kline drugs company lunch today with free pens! Haha! The techniques and drugs used are pretty much the same but there are thousands of medical students everywhere who a taught with about 20 at the bedside! Also, they can pretty much do any procedures they like - I've been told I can do any procedure as long as I have the patient's permission (the doctor was referring to a renal biopsy!). KL is not as sunny as you'd think but boy is it humid? I am constantly damp and sticky and we have been known to dive into banks for a short balst of air conditioning! We just moved into the hospital accommodation today so will let you know how it goes. Hoping to go off around Malaysia in a few weeks once we've found our feet and been signed off.
Ok, have just realised that this is more of an e-mail than a message so going to go,
Love you all,
amy x
Vicky

Whats KL like amy and Helen??! Its so unbelieveably hot here. the hospital is pretty different. My ward is 'open air' No walls or windows. Also 48 students on one ward. sooo busy!
