Got up at 9am, bought a day ticket for the metro and went to Keleti Station to reserve seats on the train to Bratislava on Friday. Caught the metro back to Vörösmarty Tér. and walked to the Chain Bridge. Crossed the bridge and caught the bus up to the castle as the funicular was not working due to maintenance. Arrived from Budapest at 10.30am after changing trains in Füzesabony. Walked into town which took about 15 minutes and visited the Tourist Information centre for a town map. Started our walking tour of Eger at Eger Cathedral before walking past the Bishop's Palace and then stopping for lunch. After lunch we walked past the Cistercian Church towards the castle. Arrived back in Budapest at 4.30pm, returned to hotel and rested before going to dinner at the nearby John Bull Pub which had good meals at reasonable prices.

Arrived in Budapest from Ljubljana at 11am and passed through immigration. Got some local currency from the ATM at the airport and the took the airport shuttle bus to our hotel, Marriott Budapest.After checking in and having a rest in the hotel we went out for lunch before catching the metro to Keleti Station to validate our rail pass. After waiting in line for ages we finally validated the pass and caught the metro back to the hotel. Went out for dinner at 6.30p...

Up early, had breakfast, then checkd out and caught our airport transfer to Ljubljana Airport. After some problems with carrying liquids onto the flight and some delays as a deportee was being escorted onto the plane, we departed on our flight to Budapest in a 33 seater plane!
