Catching up... Caught another nightbus from Bucaramanga to Santa Marta where I spent a couple of days. Nice town, not to busy. Basically where u arrange your Ciudad Perdida trek. How can u go to the Lost City if it's lost? Shouldn't it be called the Found City, formerly known as the Lost City? Confused...
Due to different body parts not co-operating properly I had to postpone the trek, tho it actually ended up with being skipped all together. Instead I spent a couple of days in a national park next to Santa Marta, Parque Tayrona. For some reason I decided to hire a guide to take me to the best spots inside the park, and I was lucky enough to get a 77 year old man. Took about two minutes to shake him off, and when I went back looking for him he had vaporized into thin air. He wasn't needed tho, Parque Tayrona can easily be explored on yer own... Which yours truly did.
The park has some freakishly huge butterflies... Like those u have nightmares about, when they eat you alive. That's normal right!? The park also has some stunning beaches and nice campsites. All in all it's well worth a visit, with or without 77 year old guides.
I'm now in Cartagena, arrived a couple of days ago to hook up with two very pale new spoons from the motherland. Was cool to get some visitors, serious spooning incoming. Has been to little of that recently... Cartagena has a very very beautiful old city and great nightlife. We're staying at El Viajero Hostal in the middle of El Centro, perfect location, cheap, and plenty of spooning possibilities.
Today we went to Isla del Rosario, Playa Blanca, a speedboat hour away from Cartagena. It's a nice getaway from big city life, and the daytrip offers some great snorkling and lovely beaches. Crowded tho, with annoying people trying to massage u. One of the new three spoons seemed to attract all masseuses, and was soon unwillingly covered in hands. That's awkward...
I'm on my fourth pair of flip-flops now, either it's something seriously wrong with my feet or I have some seriously bad luck with the flip-flops I buy. I do suspect that free flops, and flips u buy for 5 kroners might not be meant to last forever. So this time I got quality ones for 15 kroner!
The lonely spoon, now accompanied by two pale spoons (today did make em
a bit pinkish) has now visited all existing countries in South-America... Check! Best countries: Venezuela and Uruguay. Worst: French f***ing Guiana!
Tomorrow we're sailing to Panama!! It's a 5 day trip, two first days crossing the open sea over to Panama, and then
spending three pleasant days at the San Blas Islands before being dropped of at Porvenir... I will tell u all about how, why, when and whatever next time you hear from me! Ciao!
