Before setting off for Copenhagen, we had a little exploring to do. We had originally come here 20 odd years ago with a friend whose name was Roger Tagholm. It is a long story, but he had himself come here purely because there was a place here on Rømø which bore his surname, although he had no other knowledge of any connection to himself. The actual "place", if you call it that, named Tagholm turned out to be nothing more than a patch of ground. Close by was an old traditional Danish cottage and he knocked on a door, showing the old lady who lived in the cottage his passport, with his name in it. After a miraculous and long detective story involving the old lady’s son and daughter, it was established that Roger’s ancestors came from this very place. In fact, the old lady and her son and daughter were indeed distant relatives, via marriage. Today, we decided to come back to the place (see Tagholm on the satellite picture to the right).
