In fact, nearly every building in Ribe is very old and the town is officially the oldest in Scandinavia. Just opposite where we sat was a building described as Scandinavia's oldest hotel. At the cafe, we had a light lunch of soup and beer. Immediate impressions were that the Scandinavians are very polite and civilised and the food is hearty and tasty.
