Woomera surprised me, a small very organised somewhat sterile town. Lots of items on exhibition of former space crafts, satellites, drones and a very comprehensive museum of the history and achievements. I was looking forward to n evening at the Observatory but it currently was open only of a Thursday night. too long to hang around Womera from Sunday to Thursday. i decided my next goal was Cooper Pedy.

My first stop was in the town of Wilmington which is one of the gateways to the Mt Remarkable National Park. I stayed here 2 days to enjoy this National Park with its virgin bush and beautiful gorges. The Gorge most well known is Alligator Gorge although I did not meet the challenge of waling the 260 steps up and down the gorge.

House sitting a friend's house for 3 weeks in Mintaro was a delight as the Autumn mornings constantly saw the vine leaves changing colour. It was also a harsh introduction to winter but log fires helped. My charge was a chocolate coloured Labrador named Truffles. Truffles was a large overgrown 2 year old puppy but a few treats in my pocket allowed me to be top dog. I had a lovely house sit holiday for 8 days in a family home in the Adelaide Hills. My charges you see in the photo, i thought it so cute the way they would cuddle up together to doze away. This time in Adelaide gave me time to catch up with some friends, the city and the dentist.

I travelled to Mintaro a superbly preserved historic town on the edge of the Clare Valley. I have a friend in Mintaro named Vince who is an Architect and building his own house there. His grandparents actually lived in this town . Mintaro commenced around 1850 and was a stopover for Spanish mule drivers bringing copper from the Mines at Burra on the way to Port Lincoln. At times up to 100 drivers could pass through the town in a day. I have left my Van at Vince...
