tris'n'laws big adventure
hey everyone,
were in rotorua at the moment, got here today and it's pretty cool. on the bus ride today we went to a wicked gorge and walked along where the old goldmine train used to run. the views were breath taking and the swing bridges were definately hair rasing!! we then went to the town where they filmed part of lord of the rings. it was hobbiton and although the bus did not stop (O sob sob) we did get to see the tops of the rollingnhills that they used. we then arrived into rotorua and so far we have been to see some wicked hotsprings as there is loads of volcanic and thermal activity here. its funny coz the hot pools are right next to our backpackers place and we've got a hot pool in our hostel which comes right from the hot springs underneath us!! so after that we then went to a reconstruction of a traditional maori village. on the bus tris got nominated as the cheif so he got to have a scary maori warrior challange him and the other cheifs. it was such good fun! we then went around the village and watched a cool show where they did the haka! ( and the guitar bloke played metallica and limp bizkit!) then it was time for a huge feast all cooked in the traditional underground oven yummy. tris hen had to go up to be thanked and he was awarded a carved pendent which is really cool. so he is well chuffed but i think the cheif thing is now going to his head as in fiji he was also the spokesperson for our kava ceromony!!!
phew bit of a mad day! were in rotorua for another two days so we'll speak to you soon lots of love
