Saz's Canadian Odyssey
One word - Amazing...
I know a few of you wanted to hear what the riding was all about down in South America. Went up to Valle Nevado on Wednesday to beautiful bluebird skies and very warm temperatures. The snow was pretty packed but perfectly skiable and there were no icey patches. It softened up in the afternoon which made boarding easier and skiing harder. I had a ride around with 3 aussies and we hooked up with the english driver Paul who showed us a lush bowl off the back of the top mountain. Approximate prices were: 8 pounds - return minibus to Valle Nevado from Santiago, 12.5 pounds - hire of boots, skis and poles, 14 pounds for day lift pass but say you're a student otherwise its 18 pounds.
Went up again the next day and skied with Canadian Sarah and hot aussie boarder Tim. Unfortunately, you could not have got more different conditions! It was freezing. Really windy and snowing. Visability wasn't great and there was ice everywhere! Definitely not as fun but my lovely new jacket kept me cosy! Hot showers were most welcome when we got back to Santiago!
