Fearing the worst as I’m not a great sailor, the Captain is amazing taking us the calm route to make it comfortable for passengers we hug the coastline of Korcula & Hvar enroute to Pucisca on the island of Brac. The weather forecast for the rest of the week is rain but who knows they don’t always get it right, a swim in the rain is on the programme board, that fine by me as its 28 degrees with clouds and not much sign of rain.
So we got the thunderstorms but the swim along the way was cancelled and the high seas were a non event and I was glad of that. We got to the Island of Brac, docked and headed to a cafe for an espresso fix as I was having real caffeine withdrawals.
Our programme today included a visit to a Stone Mason School the only one in Croatia. This school at the village of Pucisca is unique and specialized, it was founded in January 1909, has only 56 places and the students live in the schools hostel. They have the choice of either a 4 year or 3 year craft. they carve out of "Brac" stone that is brilliant white, the students work slowly with there professors to create their sculpture as there is no room for errors when working with this stone. The school has a motto "My profession is honorable and nice and I am called a stonemason, a man works hard in stone."
I'm tempted to swim in the rain but the temperature has dropped to 22 degrees and skies are grey, thunder rumbles again, I hope the weather is better tomorrow this isn't quite the vision I had of lying on the top deck with a Mojito and enjoying the sun. Borak opted to stay in the cabin for the day - lazybum.
