College trip - July 2012
Palermo, Italy
Hey!!,
Just got back from a week in the beautiful Sicily, It was such a great trip, thoroughly enjoyed it.
I went out on the 14th arriving in Sicily around 10:30pm and ended up going to a pizzeria around midnight, the pizza was amazing!!! and only cost 3 euros for half a pizza and a drink!
I saw many temples and historic sites which gorgeous, The heat was mind-blowing, around 35/40 c everyday, and very humid, the kind of heat where you have to peel yourself off anything you sit down on. In the evenings it was still pretty hot, but there was a nice breeze so it was comfortable. I tried SO many cocktails while i was abroad, including: Pina Colada, Tequila Sunrise, Mojito, Blu Colada, Long Island Ice Tea and one I made myself, which consisted of rum and lemon soda with a slice of lime, which was truly amazing and very refreshing. I stayed in three locations. The first two nights i stayed in Palermo near the university, the city was huge and i was also there during a festival which meant the atmosphere was spectacular, also met some italians who were so lively and got up and started dancing in this bar all latino style which was great to watch, and funny if you had one two many to drink. The next two nights was in Agrigento which was on an industrial estate so a 3/4mile walk to the nearest beach, but i did get to the beach, where i found a small wooden shack which was actually a bar on the beach, the steps were about two metres away from the sea, the stars where in the sky and it was truly beautiful, also made me one of the best mojitos i've had. Believe me when i tell you, 4 miles seems nothing when your drunk! The last three nights where spent in a place called Letojanni, which i thoroughly recommend going to, it's beautiful, right on the beach, lots of great seafood restaurants, ( MUST go to Peppe's) I tried, swordfish while i was out there which was so good!! It's right on the beach and consists of many bars and a ice cream places (gelato!) also near Volcano Etna which is spectacular a must see, and a beautiful town on the hill side called Taormina. If you can afford this trip, you have to go!!! It's truly been one of the best holiday's i've been to so far! <3 <3
