We arrived in Sucre on Sunday afternoon after a short bus journey from Potosi, quickly found a hostel, dropped off our bags and went out to relax in the local park we passed on our way in.
Sucre didn´t disappoint, firstly we had hot weather which was majorly needed, lovely scenery and fantastic food! Could it get any better?
On the Monday morning we headed in to town and straight away decided that Sucre was by far the nicest place we had visited in Bolivia so far! The Plaza was beautiful, covered with exotic palm trees, lovely water fountains and an array of different restaurants and ice cream booths to choose from! We were both very happy and content walking around in shorts and t-shirts with the sun beaming down on us.
That evening we went for a lovely meal, Lee had a delicious piece of steak covered in peppercorn sauce with rice and vegetables whilst Jess had BBQ chicken with vegetables which looked equally yummy, this was topped off with a nice glass of shandy, perfect! The meal for both of us cost just £10!
During the course of the next couple of days we managed to find a cinema which showed English speaking films, we ended up seeing Angels & Demons which was brilliant as well as Transformers 2 which was superb, it was nice popping to the cinema, something that we have both agreed that we miss from back home!
That morning once we had re-woken and had a shower we went on a walk to a place which showed a panoramic view over Sucre, it was beautiful. We had a scrumptious breakfast and headed back to our hostel to collect our bags and head to the bus station.
After an over night bus journey from Sucre we arrived in a rainy Santa Cruz at around 9am Thursday morning. We found a hostel in the center of town with a really spacious room which was nice, most of the rooms/dorms we have stayed in have been quite small and cramp. This is not good, especially when you are Jess and like to spread your stuff out all over the place!
Once we had dropped off our bags and freshened up we took a stroll and found a nice cafe to have some breakfast! As we only had one day in Santa Cruz we decided to do some laundry, book our flights for Puerto Suarez (There were no trains leaving the next day for Corumba so we had to fly to a near by town, Puerto Suarez!) and look in to which tour we wanted to go with in The Pantanal! All in all a very productive day!
As we had eaten a big breakfast we decided not to have a main dinner but instead had a nice big piece of chocolate cake which was very very tasty and went down like a treat! Jess did complain of feeling sick afterwards though! Some peoples eyes are bigger than their stomach! Once we had rolled back to our room we both climbed in to bed ready for the next day, our flight to Puerto Suarez and then on to Brazil...
