Drove up from Ventimiglio through some amazing scenery to Geneva today. After spending a morning at a beautiful (public, yes we managed to find one!) beach in Cannes, we drove on to Nice. One piece of advice when arriving in Nice, do not try to drive into the city centre on a hot afternoon; park outside and get the train or bus or you may face a meltdown like we did. Arrived in Cannes: trendy, chic, not as pretentious as you might think then again the film festival wasn't in town but rather a yacht expo, so plenty of rich little beasties around. The boulevards lining the beach are pretty much crammed with hotels and underneath with every designer name shop you could imagine. the beaches are good but often private so you have to go a little further out of town. Spent most of the day driving today, arrived in France and headed for the beach. We always seem to try to find a park at dusk and at that point there was nowhere nice in sight, we decided to go to a campsite for safety reasons as the roads were so busy we risked getting rammed by another van/car/high speed motorbike in the middle of the night.

Left Valencia and headed to Rio del Elba, a national park which has, apparently, some birds of the winged variety. At first we couldn't find any but some saw flamingoes after a long search. Pretty much could have been anything for all i knew, we could only get within about 500 metres of the things!
