2 weeks of pure bliss in the beautiful Costa Rica!
We stayed at the Allegro Papagayo Hotel in Guanacaste.
It was a real treat to find various HUGE Iguanas residing at the hotel, and the cute White Faced Monkeys in the trees by our beach.
I have never seen grasshoppers the size of the ones here, on average they are 6/7" - MASSIVE!
one even had the audacity to jump on my chest!
The Racoons at night were cute, even if they were rummaging in the bins!
We saw a small cute snake sleeping on the steps by the pool.
We visited Coco Beach, which wasn't worth the time nor money, what a dump. Although to see the Dolphins chasing our boat on the way back was worth it. Plus the Brown Pelicans!!!
The trip to the Monteverde Rainforest was amazing. We stopped at the local coffee plantation which was great, especially the free locally produced coffee. Delicious!! The local children danced for us which was cute, then they bought out a HUGE local bull which dad got on top of!
We then went up to the rainforest centre and visited the reptile house. A wide variety of scary looking snakes, including Rattle snakes, Cobras, Boas and grass snakes.
The best bit of the whole trip was to wake up the sleeping tree frogs and seeing their colours come to light! Gorgeous. I so badly wanted to put the tree frog on my hand and walk off with him...!
We then started our rainforest walk by stopping off at the Hummingbird Sanctuary. It was good to feed them their syrup and watch themand on our hands. They ranged in colour, but mostly being two toned with Green, Yellow and Blue.
We then trekked up the mountain up towards the treetop bridges. It was a bit wobbly up there, or was that just me...?
Unbelievable heights, enough to make your heart beat a little faster, but the views were amazing, something to remember for a very long time. The Howler monkeys could be heard for miles!!
