Lyon and Beaujolais Wine Country Tour

From: £74.84

Duration: 8 hours

Category: Sightseeing

Enjoy a day in Lyon and a tour through the famous wine-making region of Beaujolais! Discover the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Lyon on board a hop-on hop-off tour, allowing you to sightsee at your own. In the afternoon, you'll go to Beaujolais, just south of Burgundy, to explore the area's scenic landscape and gorgeous villages, where you’ll sample some Beaujolais wines, cheese and charcuterie.

Start your day by exploring Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Meet your local host, who will explain the day’s itinerary and present you with your ticket for the double-decker hop-on hop-off sightseeing tour, which allows you to discover this historic city at your leisure.

As you travel around the city on your hop-on hop-off tour, you can listen to the audio commentary to learn about the city’s famous sights, such as the Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourvière, the Place Bellecour, the Cathédrale St-Jean (St John's Cathedral) and Vieux Lion (Old Lyon). Hop on and off the bus wherever you’d like to explore on your own.

If you wish, take time to have lunch (own expense) during your hop-on hop-off tour.

In the afternoon, board a minibus for a scenic drive through the stunning Beaujolais wine region. As you travel through the area, also known as Beaujolais Wine Route (Route des Crus), your experienced guide will inform you about the pictures and villages you’ll pass, such as Fleurie, Morgon and Moulin à Vent, and will explain the wine-making process. Make photo stop at different villages to take pictures of the amazing landscape.

Then head to a local wine cellar, where you’ll sample different Beaujolais wines, supplemented with artisan cheese.
