Sa-wat-di! I finally arrived, after 2 flights, an interesting tranfer between each, and a no-show for my pre-arranged airport transfer. But i've now spent 2 whole days in Bangkok, and would I come back?...Probably not. That's not to say I haven't had a pretty packed couple of days, full of sights, sounds, smells and tastes, but 2 days is enough! First day, arrived to the hotel a bit dishevelled, decided that I could either go to bed, or just start my adventure there and then. So I did-bargained with a local for a full day tour around the city by tuk-tuk for 5 Baht (about 10p!). Nice one. There was no way I could do it all by foot in this heat and humidity. Saw many statues of Buddahs, at first was impressed by their gold and shiny-ness...but after seeing one after another that all pretty much looked the same, i thought I had seen enough for the time being. Was rained on alot after i bid farewell to my tourguide...typical! And, after a detour back to my hotel in search of the 2 most famous sights in Bangkok, The Grand Palace and Wat Po...i found them closed!....Picked up grub from a street market which quite literally blew my head off...and retreated back to the hotel ready to shower and SLEEP. Today was rather more successful. It was an early start to join the Floating River tour. The market was accessable by boat and took us out of the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, which was a welcolmed escape. The afternoon was again a success, revisiting the Grand Palace and Wat Po, to realise why they were tourist hotspots-incredible! Now I'm waiting in the hotel lobby to meet my fellow travellers...exciting times!
Next stop-Cambodia!
