We have just arrived in Queenstown and have had a couple of really good days since my last blog. The evening before we were going to do the hike we went to do a pub quiz. After doing that Joel and I headed of to this other bar whilst the others (sensibly) went home for a sleep. We met these Irish guys and played them at pool with the losers having to do a shot of the others choice. We won and asked the barmen for the worst shot he had. He came back with what he called "red fury" we asked how much? He said free the only rules are that you do it at the bar and I get to watch. We should have realised then. The shot was a concoction of the hottest chilli powder possible 90% absinth whisky and tequila. After literally 3 pints of milk later my mouth was still on fire and we did not feel well. The next day we headed of to the Fox glacier and started our hike. The scenary was amazing looking down from the hills onto the glacier but actually being on it was something else. We then drove down to a random campsite where we were eaten alive by midgies. I have tropical strength spray and have been bitten about 30 times on each foot it is not pleasant! We then headed to Lake Wanaka where we hired out some kayaks and headed off to this deserted island all there was was a pier so for entertainment we decided to jump into the ice cold water. After Wanaka we headed into Queenstown (where we are now) and headed up the cable car to see the views and go on these luge cars. 4 competitive men racing down the mountainside meant a lot of crashes and cut knees! We have also booked in to do a bungee tomorrow. We thought we would be daring and go for the 143m high one called The Nevis. Since booking it I am thinking it was a silly idea as we saw a 43m one today and that looked high! I have also just found out it's the second highest in the world. I will write again soon and tell everyone how it went.
