Hello Everyone, we are now in Agra! Spent four days in Mumbai and saw some pretty cool sights like the gateway to india, and had beggers fighting over us for money! had our 18 hour train ride down from Mumbai to Jaipur which was an experience! We were in a six person sleeper and had some annoying guy who was snoring, a mouse ran accross the floor and scared the girls, the toilet was a hole in the floor so hardly ideal and there was some crazy man walking up and down all night selling indian tea or "chai." Jaipur was pretty cool, had some tour guide who showed us round for two days for 800 rupees which is less than a tenner! Went to a place called the monkey temple which was literally a temple ona hill with about ten thousand monkeys running wild! then we went out for a few beers with the tour guide and ended up plastered, staggered home and amy ended up passed out on the bathroom floor shouting vanisha to help her into bed!
Then for our second day in Jaipur we went to a textile factory where they make scarves, pashminas, duvets, suits and all kinds of stuff which gets exported to shops like habitat and monsoon! bought some stuff from there and got to see how its all made so that was pretty cool! then we went to some famous fortune teller who read our palms and told us all some random nonsense about what age we will be lucky in life, told tom he would have a bad back and bad stomach when he is older but would live a long succesful life, amy is apaprently going to open her own business and Vanisha is going to get a major illness apprently because her life line is broken...we could have bought some stones from him that would have made us "complete" but thought otherwise...
Then at night we went on a massive trek in one of the little rickshaw taxis up to a place called the amber fort which had an awesome view of all of Jaipur!
Were currently in Agra staying in a really nice hotel which is all made of marble and is really clean! we even get a bath! Vanisha and Amy have fallen in love with some crazy waiter guy here because he constantly smiles and looks like mario...slightly worrying but what can you do? this mornign we went to a place called 'fatherbad Sikri' probably spelt wrong but thats the best i can do...it was an abanoned city with loads of temples that were made in the 15 hundreds, was really beautfiul and amazing to see! Off to see the Taj Mahal tonight in a few hours to see the sunset from the riverside and then off to watch the sunrise there again tommorow at 6am and actually go inside the temples etc!
Were all doing fine, started adjusting to the weather now and are all eating better! Amys been bitten to death the last few days but other than that were all surving in spite of the crazy heat wave that has swarmed over india the past few weeks! WEre off to Delhi on thursday and then Vietnam on Sunday!
Speak soon,
Tom, Amy and Vanisha!
