I got into Bangkok at about 6.20pm and was nicely jetlagged (and probobaly smelling really bad) as I walked into the hotel reception to find that the tour was to meet in the lobby at 6.30. Damn it!! So I stroll into the lobby with all my stuff, interrupt the guy talkign and start randomly jabbering before i find out it's not my group. Good one.
Once i found my group i stood about and made small talk with everyone which was all i was really capable of in my state of tiredness. Straight after the little intro chat we went off to a little resturant (after everyone waited for me to take a shower haha) then we went into town to catch a Ping Pong show. Unfortunately we chose a bad show which turned out to be nothing than a lesbian sex show. None of us were particularly interested in the obese asians with strap-ons, particularly the girls on our tour who had come with us! Although they all found it pretty funny! (Aprt from one, who flew home to england the very next morning in a fit of tears because 'travelling was't for her-OUCH!)
We ended up at some bar in the middle of the busiest street in the city, quite literally in the middle - we had plastic chairs at sat on them in the middle of the pedestrian road as there were too many of us to fit in the bar premises. From here we were given colourful beach buckets, filled with a mix of whisky coke and red bull. Absolutely disgusting!!! But it seems to do the job and is pretty cheap, and good fun in a group! So after a few of these and after James, (a guy from the last tour down to Bangkok) had chatted up the barmaid and persuaded her to join us, we went off to some random club.
I don't really need to explain what happens in the club becuase it's usually always the same. The only difference being the comple infestation of the place with 'ladyboys'', something id never really experienced properly before. It seems that this is completely accepted in this culture and wherever you look there are he-shes walking the streets, they're not even all prostitutes. Anyway we head back to the hotel at about 3 or 4, ready to get up at 6 to go to Kanchaburi the next day. My 2 hours sleep somehow didnt manage to clear my jetlag :S
