Brisbane is a really chilled out city. It's the gateway to the Sunshine Coast and Gold coast and has stunning national parks close by. Hiking in the Lamington/Sprigbrook Nation park is not to be missed. Moreton Island is just a stone's throw away and there are some fantastic day and overnight trips you can do on the island. In the city itself you should catch the city cat and cruise up and down the Brisbane River. It's beautiful by night. There's Southbank with it's man-made beach and cafes, the Botanical Gardens, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and Mount Cootha (Brisbane's famous 'parking spot'!) with a spectacular view of the city.
