Trujillo and Mancora
Trujillo was a lovely quaint town, with well organised streets and a few colonial buildings and churches dotted around, however the main attractions are the ruins to the Chan Chan and Moche civilisations which existed before the Incas.
We stopped off at about 7am, walked straight into a hostel which organized us a day tour to Chan Chan and Moche land, luggage storage and an overnight bus to Mancora. Wonderful! We'll take it!! Before the tour we walked around and found a little local market where we bought breakfast and lunch and then headed for our geological adventure. To summarize approx 6 hrs of tour guide talk the Incas worshipped the sun, while the Moche worshipped the mountain and their temples all had to be built in the shape of a mountain. The Chan Chans worshipped all types of gods but their main god was the moon, and if you guessed that they originated from Asia you get a gold star!
So that evening we headed onto Mancora! A hippy's and Luci's paradise! A laid back, chilled out beach town with nothing to do but lie on the beach, swim in the WARM water, eat ice creams and churros (if you think I'm swearing about the Indians you pronounced it correctly! It's like a wand of crispy, sugary warm caramel filled treat! Hmmm so delicious.) this beach is supposedly famed for surfing but these were my kind of waves...all I needed was my lilo! 2 days later we decided to head over the border into Ecuador looking a little browner and Tim looking as red as a fire truck...it was time to go.
That night as we climbed onto the bus the rain came down heavily, we stopped throughout the night at both border posts and waded in higher than ankle deep water to get our passports stamped. I swear I was catching some incurable disease as we watched everything float by. By 6:30am we were standing at the bus station in Guayaquil, Ecuador with 2 sopping back packs. yay.
