Today was a hair wash day....which when your travelling (or just in normal life if your me) can be few and far between so it was nice to feel fresh and clean...I only mention this as the blog entries all kinda start the same so I thought I would mix it up a bit! We headed to the bus station and booked our tickets for the next bus tat was leaving to Kotor, Which happen to be in 30 seconds. So we rushed to the platform and just made the bus.....We all were looking forward to some beach time in Kotor, the journey seemed to take forever and the bus was so crowded. I shamelessly pretended to be asleep for some parts of the journey so I didn't have to give my seat to anyone!
We arrived in Kotor and was pounced upon by the 'apartment ladies' we agreed to one for €9 and then she only had two beds so gave us to her sister who took us to another guys apartment around the corner....it was a bit pricey but Mark got her down for $12 after picking up him bag and walking off. Deal made we dumped our bags and went off to explore. We headed into the old town and had a look around and managed to exchange our Bosnian marks...yay. Still no luck getting ride of our Albanian leke.
We walked along the bay to try and find the little island that was pictured in the lonely planet....we walked for quite a while until we gave up and walked back stopping off at a marina bar for a few beverages. It was really hot so a couple of beers on the waters edge was like paradise. Life can't get better than that. Feeling a little tipsy we headed back into old town for dinner. We found a seafood restaurant and the waiter wooed Mark into ordering a whole Turbot for us too share... Clearly he didn't look at the menu. When the bill came the fish alone was €70!!!!!! Thats blown the budget. time for a week of noodles :)
And that was our day!

Today was the day that we climbed to the top of the fortress (although not before giving our laundry to the landlady)....we were mentally prepared and once we ate a bag of mini croissants and grabbed a couple of bottles of water...sparkling which was gross so we swapped for non gas....it was time to head up, we had paid our €3 each entrance. It started off ok and then as we got higher Mark went ahead and me and George started to feel the mid-day heat and take a few more breaks...it was not long before I felt sick and dizzy and wanted to turn back, however George wouldn't let me!!! So we pushed on and eventually got to the top...yippee. Mark was waiting for us and we took a few selfies. The views from the top were amazing, it gave a great views of the old town and the bay. Although the fortress was really run down which was a shame. You would think this being a Unesco site and being charged $3 each they would have some process of maintaing the site and its preservation. The walk down was alot easier and quicker than the walk up.
I think we defiantly deserved our beach time....which was what we did for the rest of the day. Mark and I rented a kayak and paddled around the cruise ship that was docked up, it was massive and I gave a little wave to the old boys on the boats balconies. Mark really wanted to Swim so headed out without his top to the shopping center. He managed to get some swim shorts before being escorted out for inappropriate clothing, or lack of.
This was about as exciting as our day got as we got back sorted out our stuff for George to take home. I managed to empty half my bag, while Mark only got rid of a few things. That evening we headed out for dinner. We didnt make the same mistake as yesterday and ordered the pasta. Quite a chill day in the end....
